Don Sherwood, Dealer Principal of Sherwood Freightliner, Sterling & Western Star, was awarded the 2014 Pennsylvania Truck Dealer of the Year on Aug. 20, 2013.
The award is given by Pennsylvania Truck Dealers, and was presented at the Pennsylvania Truck Dealers Annual Convention at the historic Bed-ford Springs Resort in Bedford, PA. Sherwood, of Tunkhannock, has truck dealerships in Dunmore and Tunkhannock. A third location is planned for the junction of 1-80/1-81 in Luzerne County.
“I’m so proud to be given an award like this, by my peers,” Sherwood said Tuesday at his Tunkhannock dealership. and I must attribute it to my employees and partners, who are an integral part of the organization.”
“We are so proud of my father and very proud to represent Pennsylvania,” commented Sherwood’s daughter Maria, who is the Finance and Insurance Manager for the trucking company.
“It’s very humbling,” noted the company’s general manager, Mark Novitch. “We are just delighted and credit our entire team.”
In addition to Sherwood Freightliner, Sterling & Western Star, Sherwood also owns or partners in Sherwood Isuzu Trucks; Sherwood Chevrolet, Buick & GMC; Sherwood-Groves Ford, Buick & GMC; Horlacher & Sherwood Goodyear Tire; The Skidder Shop and two Comfort Inns. Don and his wife, Carol, have three daughters, Jesse, Dana and Maria, a son-in-law, Bill Lawrence, and a granddaughter, Olivia.

Don Sherwood is the owner and principal dealer of the company, whose new facility opened this summer along Route 6 just west of Tunkhannock.
